Usually shy, nocturnal insects • Contaminate food • Can aggravate allergies • Found in dark, moist areas and wherever food is stored or prepared • German cockroaches reproduce rapidly • Brownbanded cockroaches live in warm, relatively dry areas • Oriental cockroaches move inside homes in the fall and prefer cool, moist areas.

Crazy Ant Nest inside wall voides near warm places • Attracted by sweets and protein, including insects.	Fire Ant Colonies nest in soil and in voids like hollow foundation blocks and bath traps.	Pharaoh Ant Very small and difficult to control, nest throughout structures in inaccessible areas.	Carpenter Ant Destroy wood • Usually found in moist wood • Reproductives have wings.	Cricket Make an annoying noise in large numbers • Found primarily outdoors, but can move inside.

Brown Dog Tick Fee on ears, between toes and on backs of dogs • Hide in pet bedding and behind baseboards • Bite people.	Blacklegged (Deer) Tick May transmit Lyme disease which can be debilitating to humans and pets • Very small, less than 1/8 inch • Found where deer and mice frequent.	Earwig Active at night, hidden in mulch during the day • Scavenge on dead plant and animal material • Found in cool, damp ground cover.	Millipede Normally found outdoors in damp places, but can migrate into basements and first floor rooms.

Silverfish Hide during the day in cracks and crevices • Eat paper, fabric and cereals • Fast moving.	Sowbub/Pillbug Like damp places • Frequently invade damp basements, crawl spaces and potted plants • Pillbug rolls into a ball when disturbed, Sowbug cannot.	Spider Most species hide in cracks, dark areas or webs • May bite if disturbed • Black Widow and Brown Recluse species are of medical concern.	Cat Fleas Found on pets, near pet nesting areas, and in carpet • Reproduce rapidly • Can cause irritating bites.
