Dodson Pest Control Announces Grand Opening of New Office

(Lynchburg, VA) – Dodson Pest Control is pleased to announce the grand opening of its new Lynchburg Service Office at 3640 Campbell Avenue in Lynchburg, VA. The company and the Greater Lynchburg Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting at the new office on August 22. It was followed by a family celebration from 10am until 1pm. Talk Radio 100.9FM, WIQO broadcast live at the event that included plenty of family fun, food, refreshments, games and prizes.

Dodson Pest Control, with its corporate name of Dodson Bros. Exterminating Company, Inc., has proudly been serving the Lynchburg area for over 70 years. The company was officially established on August 20, 1944 by the Dodson brothers Bert and Robert. A few years later, another brother, Arthur joined the company. In the early 1960s, Bert purchased his brothers’ shares and continued to grow the company. Today, Dodson Pest Control is one of the largest family-owned pest control companies in the United States, with 36 offices serving Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Eastern Tennessee and the District of Columbia-Maryland metropolitan area.

(Charlottesville, Virginia) – Bert Dodson, Jr. will begin his second year as Virginia High School League Foundation President effective July 1st, 2014. Dodson has been a member of the Foundation's Board of Directors since July of 2008 before being elected President of the Foundation in July 2013. He is currently serving a two-year term. Dodson is also the President and CEO of Dodson Pest Control, with 35 offices serving Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Eastern Tennessee and the District of Columbia-Maryland metropolitan area.

The Virginia High School League recently celebrated its 100th anniversary with a luncheon at the University of Virginia. The VHSL oversees athletic and academic competition in Virginia. The Foundation is an extension of the VHSL. Its mission is to stimulate ongoing statewide support for League activities and programs. At the luncheon, Bert Dodson, Jr. had the honor to introduce keynote speaker Leland Melvin. Melvin, a former athlete at Heritage High School in Lynchburg, Virginia, went on to become an engineer and NASA astronaut. Melvin flew two missions on the space shuttle Atlantis.

Dodson Pest Control helps raise money with Spelling Bee

(Lynchburg, VA) - Congratulations to Becky Marsh, Payroll Manager  with Dodson Pest Control (pictured second from left), and her team of Joel Mangham and Jill Roberts on winning the 10th annual Executive Spelling Bee in Lynchburg, Virginia! Eleven teams competed in this year’s Spelling Bee contest. The event is held every year to raise money for the Lynchburg-based Presbyterian Homes & Family Services and the Family Alliance.  The non-profit organization offers programs and services throughout Virginia to strengthen individuals and families through care, counseling and education.  The event collected over $400,000 the past 10 years, including $40,000 this year!
